Can't get Out Calling to work

I've got outcalling setup on an ext (ext 10) mailbox and it's not working.

I have outcalling (call fwd) and trunk2trunk setup for this extension. In mailbox programming I turned outcalling on and entered the phone number as:

9*1112223333# (not actual number used of course)

I found some older threads and also set the LS Disconnect to YES but as of yet cannot get it to work.

I tried not using 9* in the number and no luck. Does it dial right away or wait 30 minutes?

From the information I have found that should be all there is to it but you know how that goes :)

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I also had Rotary Enable on VM ports 26-35 and that did not work. Removed it and still did not work. Won't let me enable it for ext 10.

Oh and the COS for the mailbox is 10 so it has outcalling capabilities. Thanks!

Unrestrict the VM ports, and set their FRL to 3

Rotary Enable the VM ports, as they need to be able to set MW lights and transfer calls. Rotary Enable doesn't apply to anything other than S/L ports (like VM ports)

LS Disconnect doesn't matter, as this is not a trunk to trunk transfer, it's simply an outbound call. Same for Trunk to Trunk and RCF.

9* is necessary, so that it will use ARS for dialing.

And I assume you're set up in Hybrid/PBX mode (You dial 9 for calls from regular phones as well)

There are several things you need to change to make this work.

Rotary Enable is ONLY for Merlin Messaging, and without it, your Message Lights will not work, nor will the outcalling.

That being said, I see from your other posts, that you have a MLM-007.

The LAST PORT on the MLM-007 does the outcalling.

Therefore, on the LAST PORT of the MLM-007:

1) you must set the ARS Restriction high enough to access the
"MAIN" Pool, usually 70 (It defaults to ZERO)

2) you must un-restrict the last port.

3) you must un-assign DISALLOW LIST 7 from that extension

4) you must also set it for TRUNK TO TRUNK Transfer ALLOWED

The LS Disconnect you set is correct.

Unrestrict the VM ports, and set their FRL to 3

Hi TTT:

I unrestricted the VM ports (26-37) in Sys Programming under Extensions->ARS Restrictions and set their FRL to 3. I'm assuming that's all I do to unrestrict them.

Ports 26-37 (VM ports) are Rotary Enabled.

I'm in PBX mode and have to dial 9 to get an outside line.

Still no go.

Do I need to do anything to my ARS tables? They are all default at this point. I noticed the FRS table does not have a restriction level.

Thanks again.

TTT/Merlinman,

Ok, I found where to unrestrict the ports/extensions and that is done. I removed port 37 (last VM port, correct?) from the DisallowTo list 7 (did not see anything in the Disallow list?) and set Rotary Enable for 37.

ROCK 'N ROLL! Thanks guys!

Well, I don't know your numbering plan but it sounds like you got it to work.

Rotary Enable is not necessary nor is it used by the MLM-007, only the Merlin Messaging.

Yes, thank you. It is working.

The advantage (obviously) of these component-based systems is the amount of flexibility you have, unfortunately it also means you have a bazillion (a real number, and I counted) different things you have to make sure are working together correctly. I was used to a Talkswitch system (aka Phone Systems for Dummies), which has a great GUI interface and is VERY easy to use, but it's an all in one and while it has a great number of options, you can outgrow it quickly. We are already enjoyed the features of the Merlin system and thanks to you guys actually have it working now!
