Does anyone have any information on where I can get SWAT? Can't seem to find it around easily. Not even on SAMBA's main websites.

Thanks.

I don't use GUI tools, but doesn't SWAT come with the Samba package? Its probably already installed, but I could be wrong. I think that SWAT runs from xinetd, so check your /etc/xinetd.d directory for a swat file. If you find one, edit it with a text editor and change the "disable = yes" line to "disable = no" and restart the xinetd daemon --> "/sbin/service xinetd restart".

If you're using the standard Inetd daemon, you need to add this line to inetd.conf (in /etc)

swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /usr/sbin/swat swat

Then you need to add the swat port to services. Just add this to the current services.

swat 901/tcp

You can redefine what port it runs over using this.

i got the swat rpm from the installation cd, it was not installed by default i had to do it manually, but any way try u shuold get it somewhere on the net, if not i will mail u one.
after installing u can direcly use swat by entering the following

so ur swat will run on demand instead of utilising ur resources all the time.

Thanks to all how relpied to the question.
I managed to get it installted from the CD.
Its neat to have a GUI to what was a bore to config, but now, I am faced with an overload of options to enter into the interface.

Anyways, here's to you people. Information is free....dont hog it!
