Hello All

I have sent messages but nobody seems to be able to help me. So I will try best to explain my story again. I am a total beginner at Linux so I know nothing! This is my first time with Linux, might I add, and I have installed Suse Linux 8.1 on my computer, after having bought a Radeon 9500 graphics card. I have the drivers for it and have put them on cdrw.

The problem is Suse 8.1 does not recognise my card and therefore am stuck at the command prompt, which it says "have fun!" but I am so not having fun, it's far from laughter!

I have been able to mount the cdrw and load the drivers only for it, but I am stuck at the same position from where I started, when I type Startx it still says what it said at the beginning:

"there is no link /var/X11R6/bin/X to the correct X Server binary. Please configure the correct X Server with Sax/Sax2, which will create the missing link. I'm aborting now."

What does this mean and can anybody PLEASE help me get into a windowing environment, it is really annoying me now!

You need to edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config file.

Look at the XFree86 homepage (google will find it for you) for some examples and help.

:)

try to do what system says: run sax or sax2
With Suse 8.1 do you have one anothe powerful application Yast. Try this one.
