please give me a link to be able to d/l IE version 5.5. Currently I have version 5.00.2614.3500 with 128 bit encryption.
All I find at icrosoft is a cople of 5.5 patches (SP1 & SP2) but not the version. And I do not want 6.0.

Look on any free AOL CD or similar by searching through the folders....
Don't know if M$ still d/l 5.5 version, but someone must..
Try a Google search....

I just typed "MS IE 5.5" in advanced search, and here's the results...

Notification:
These are just "my" thoughts....and should be carefully measured against other opinions....I try very hard to impart correct info at all times.

I'm truly frustrated with microsoft - nothing is easy or straight forward with them. There is ALWAYS some glitch or other that prevents you from finding what you need.
Thanks for the d/l link for 5.5, now I need SP2. I tried everything to install it. When I try, it says I first need SP1, when I try d/l install SP1 it says it needs SP1 too! There's an article within this group that clearly says previous versions of service packs are NOT REQUIRED - just install the latest SP for your desired browser. That's SP2. But when I try it says I need SP1, and SP1 also says I need SP1 !!!!!! Jeeeeeeez !!!!!!!
HELP

Thanks for the link (ttodd):

It's definitely wnat I need, unfortunately trying to do the d/l over the past week all I get is this error message:

Setup could not download the needed files. This could be because the Internet site you are connecting to is busy, your Internet connection is slow, or the connection to your Internet service provider (ISP) was broken.
Please try connecting again later to complete the download, when the Internet site is less busy or you can get a better connection.

I'm broadband (cable) and have no problem with my ISP (Cox), so there must be a problem with the website. Can anyone offer me an alternative site for the same d/l ?

Thanks.

Belay that request - I see evolt.org is now the site offering the files instead. Downloading as we speak - hope the install works - we'll see.
Thanks all.
the brit.
