Hello,

I just started as the facilities manager here, and I'm trying to get the extension numbers on the phones to match people's office numbers to make things easier. They are all just random right now.

So I looked online and it says to change the DNs all you have to do is go into the configure menu, hit system prgrming, and then Change DNs. But I don't have this Change DNs option.

The options I have when you hit 'System Prgrming' are:
'Hunt Groups' 'Featr settings' 'Direct-dial' Auto Attendant' 'Fax DN: none' Remote Access' 'Hospitality'

I've explored most of those options and cant find how to change the phone's DN. Any help would be appreciated. I've tried other passwords as well and it just gives me less options.

Thank you

You need to be in Configuration programming and not Administration programming.
Also note you cannot just use any number i.e. 1 is used for Park, 7 for Hunt Groups, 9 for line access etc.

Keep in mind usually a hotel or hospital would use a room number where a regular office wouldn't n since people change offices and cubical s often therefore changing signatures and business cards and extension list for all, speed dials, clients used to dialing correct DN, staff getting call not for them and so on.

I think I am in configuration. I'm in the **266344 menu.

Thanks for the info though, what do you mean by the 1,7,and 9? Do you mean on the DN number itself you cant have those numbers?
I know our extensions are 3 digits, and all but 3 line up with the room numbers, so they asked me to change the 3 if I could. But the current working room numbers/extensions include 207, and 209?

I'm very new to these phone systems, so I've been digging through manuals etc, but still don't understand much.

Configuration is technician programming and requires Configuration password which we DO NOT give out on forums and is against policy.

Also I believe you would need to do a system startup and program all from scratch if you want to change the start DN (lowest DN) from 221 (default) to say 200

1, 7, 9 as in the start of a DN, 1XX, ,7XX,9XX etc.
I.E. Park is is using 1XX that's why DN's start at 2XX out of the box, your DN's cannot start with a digit that is already in use.

"But the current working room numbers/extensions include 207, and 209?"
Not sure what your question is.

Also another thing is you will need to change the voice mail boxes for those 3 if need.

According to online I am using the configuration password. When I try the admin password from online I get even fewer choices on the menu.

There are 4 passwords that allows login into programming:
[ul]
[li]Installer[/li]
[li]System Coordinator Plus[/li]
[li]System Coordinator[/li]
[li]Basic[/li]
[/ul]

According to what you see, you have logged in using the System Coordinator Plus password. You need to log in using the Installer password to see the "Change DNs" sub-heading.

Also according to what you see, you have a Compact ICS with software release 4.1 or 4.2. You can download the Compact ICS 4.2 Installer Guide online and read the first few pages in the Programming chapter to help you access programming.

As other have mentioned, make sure to carefully plan your DNs before actually changing them. You don't want your new DNs to conflict with existing features on your system and you don't want to constantly change DNs either.

Then again, you *could* change the three office numbers to match their current extensions. Three brass plaques and you're done. ;-)
