I have no idea how to find this file? I went to start/mycomputer/c drive and went to tools/folder options/view and selected show all files... and the file still doesn't show up.

I need to find the file so I can right click it and changes some properties and add a line. I need to remove the read "read only" on it.

I can open it through the cmd under "run" but don't know how to do what I need to do with it?

Can somebody please show me how to locate this file on my C drive? Thanks guys.

hi

You can try by start --> Run --> c:\boot.ini. It will automatically open the file.

Lakshmi21,

I can find it through the run command easily. I have mentioned that on my original question. What I want to know is to get to where the file is physically so I can "right click" on it and get to the properties and turn off the Read Only setting.

Thanks guys for your help, I know this seems easy but I can't find it.

Go to My Computera dn double click C drive. In Tools > Folder Options > View, check the button for "Show hidden files and folders", and uncheck the box for "Hide extensions for known file types". You can also click "Apply to all folders" if you want to use the same options for all folders.

Frank4d,

Thank you so much!
