Can any one tell me how to get Quark to quit looking for an auxiliary dictionary? I picked up a brochure project and need to run a spell check. But every time I go to run the spell check function the dialog box pops up and reads Cannot find Auxiliary dictionary. I'm on version 4.1 on a PC. I've tried the Edit auxiliary function and the dialog box pops up with the sme window, "Cannot find Auxiliary dictionary [55]. When I go to the Auxiliary Dictionary dropdown menu. I can see the name of the dictionary it is looking for but I can't find it anywhere on my PC. Any idea on how to get it to quit looking for it?

Quark is so darn moody. Re-establish the link through "Auxilliary Dictionary..." rather than "Edit...." Gotta find it before you can edit it. That works all the time from what I've seen. If not, you may have to trash your prefs. Yuk.

Thanks for the help. I tried to do it through the Auxiliary dictionary but it couldn't find any file to link to establish to. I never thought of throwing out the preferences even though I've done that to numerous times to mention in Photoshop and freehand. I'll have to give that a try next time this happens ( It only happens sporadically, No rime or reason ) I actually cut and paste everything from one document to another and the spell check decided to run again. Like you said, Just a moody program. Thanks for the help.

To get around this problem next time go to 'Utilities' - 'Auxiliary Dictionary' and choose 'close'.

This is how it it done on the Mac but shouldn't be different on a PC.

This happens when Quark chooses to save auxiliary dictionaries from where the document was created.
