or a Window application.

The windows registry or system.ini file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists.

If you deleted this file on purpose, try uninstalling the associated application using uninstall or setup program.

If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file.

c:\program~1\symantec\symevnt.386
Press enter to continue

When I click enter, window will loads as usual. I receive this message after I have uninstalled a great number of programs. I wonder why this error message occured and how do I solve this problem? Lot of thanks.

Howdy:

You used to have Norton av on your system right??

Go into autoexec.bat and config.sys and remove any line containing the missing file in the error message.

Have a look in MSCONFIG and disable the reference to it in the Start-up.
