Hello,

I don't work on lap tops that much. The ones I have I can't seem to get the image to use the whole screen. When on the Net Pages don't fill the screen. Open word or any app. it does not fill up the screen. I went into display tried all the settings. It gets smaller or a little larger but not the full screen. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, spool

It still won't fill the whole screen when you set the resolution as high as it will go? Most likely you don't have the right display drivers. See if the manufacturer's website has anything.

Aother thing that occurred to me is that Windows might think you have a limited-resolution monitor. Make sure the monitor type is either set to something generic or to the right kind of fixed-resolution panel for your laptop.

If it's kind of an old machine, you might have to lower the bit depth to 16-bit (hi color) or even 256 colors before you can set the resolution high enough. Another option is to look through the advance properties for some sort of stretch option for lower resolutions. On some machines, this is in BIOS setup.

Check and see if there is something like an "on screen display". When using a CRT monitor you can adjust the width, height etc. I am assuming that there is the same types of adjustments on a laptop monitor. Not too sure...but check it out anyway.

yeah, like DJCyber said, there is sometimes a key-combination you can enter (a lot of the time there is a "Fn" key, pressing that and then one of the fucntion keys generally let you change screen size settings, etc.)

Hello again,

When I open IE or any app. the main window expands and uses the whole screen. The body of the page is small and it is either in the middle or off to the side of the screen with blank spaces on the sides. That's why I thought setting the resolution higher would help. I can set it to about five different one's. It doesn't help. I will try the color settings when I have another look at the laptop over the weekend.

Note: When in display settings there is a choice I can make of two monitors. One is for the fixed and one is for an external. The fixed one is chosen. Could there be a problem with this?

Any other tip's would be appreciated.

Thanks, spool
