Hi all

we try to enable VPN feature on 9608 IP Phone running with Avaya IP Office system, we have upload the both 46xxsetting.txt and 96xxvpn.txt files to the primary folder on the SD card of the system.

On the 46xxsetting.txt file we have added thoses lines:

IF $GROUP SEQ 0 GOTO NO96XXVPN

IF $GROUP SEQ 876 GOTO 96XXVPN

# 96XXVPN
GET 96xxvpn.txt

# NO96XXVPN

SET NVVPNMODE 0

SET VPNPROC 0

Then we have create new file 96xxvpn.txt with parameters:

################################################## #
## VPN Mode
## 0: Disabled, 1: Enabled.
################################################## #

SET NVVPNMODE 1

################################################## #
## Vendor.
## 1: Juniper/Netscreen, 2. Cisco
## 3: CheckPoint/ Nokia 4: Other
## 5: Nortel.
################################################## #

SET NVVPNSVENDOR 5

################################################## #
## Encapsulation Type.
## 0: 4500-4500, 1: Disabled
## 2: 2070-500, 3: ?
## 4: RFC (500-500)
################################################## #

SET NVVPNENCAPS 0

################################################## #

....etc

We have added the phone 9608 to the group 876 (VPN) and then reboot it...during the reboot progress we see that the phone can read the both files 46xxsetting.txt and 96xxvpn.txt then goes up, after that we check on the menu of the IP Phone (Mute + CRAFT) but we can't find VPN options.

We have reboot it a lot of times but with the same issue.

Please let me know if we have missing somethings ?

Thanks

Regards

You will need to use the old 96xx range or a 56/46 series handset :)

thanks for your reply, so you mean that it is not supported over 9608 IP Phone..right ?

What's the solution now ? change the handset or try to find new vpn firmware ...?

Thanks

I don't think that changing the handset will do it. You'll likely need to change the whole phone - to a version that supports VPN firmware. Or simply put a router at the far end and create the VPN with routers, allowing you to use any IP phone at far end.

a 9620 is an excellent VPN phone.

I have try with 9641 IP Phone, but with the same issue, we can see the boot progress reading on 96xxvpn.txt but it can't bring up the vpn configuration.

Please let me know if Im missing on the 46xxsetting.txt or 96xxvpn.txt ?

Thanks

Do not use the new 96x1 phones!!!
The VPN is only supported on the old 46/56xx serie phones or the old 96xx phones.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I have test now with IP Phone 9650 and it work fine.

what about the other 96xx ?

Thanks

Any 96 series that doesn't end with a 0 will not work i.e 9608,9611 etc :)
