I am running Windows XP Pro on a Windows 2000 domain and I am having some issues with a piece of inventory software that I am using to keep track of the specific hardware each user on my network has. This software will also show who is logged into the computer at the current time. The issues I am having are that 90% of the computers are showing up as one single user we will call him Jake. After checking all the machines that show Jake as logged in they all have a local profile for Jake that should not be there because Jake has not logged on to any of these computers before. Anyway Jake's profile shows up in the list of profiles but has the delete button greyed out but I am able to delete any other profile in the list other than the one I am logged on as of course, I am not logged in as Jake when I try to delete his profile I am logged on as an administrator. Jake has no different rights as a user than any other normal user on my network. I have attempted to go into documents and settings and delete his profile folder manually but it comes back and says that it cannot delete UsrClass.dat because file is in use by another program. I have checked the processes and don't see anything that would lead me to believe that this profile is running behind the scenes. I have gone into My Computer >> Management >> Sessions and there are no sessions open.
I have tested this and had the exact same results on 3 seperate machines. I have googled this problem and UsrClass.dat and both turned up nothing that I found helpful. If anyone has any suggestions or can tell me what UsrClass.dat is used for that would be great.

I belive that if I can resolve this problem the problem with my inventory software will be resolved as well.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for your post,

I have an update and a little more information in reguards to this problem. I am not running ZEN or using any Novell, or roaming profiles. I was able to boot to a bootable CD and delete the profile in Documents and Settings. When I reboot off of the network I am fine but when I reboot onto the network as a certain user this profile comes back. I am not exactly sure where to go from this point and the only thing I can think to do is to check the machine of the user whos profile keeps getting recreated and then maybe use a sniffer program and record exactly what is comming to and from this machine. Any suggestions anyone else might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
