I just installed Exchange 2k3 on a windows 2k3 Server. My active directory structure is this:

2k domain controller (Schema Master)
2k3 domain controller replicating from 2k box

When I installed Exchange I did the following in the following order:

setup /forestprep
setup /domainprep
setup

Installed Exchange, ran internet mail wizard, entered in what I thought was right.

Now when I go to add a user in AD on either domain controller, there is no box to Add an Exchange mailbox.

What did I do wrong?

From what I get from your post is you have 3 servers. 2 are DCs and a new Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003 was just added. Is that correct?

You don't mention service packs, so your should update your Win2K3 boxes to SP1 and upgrade Exchange to SP2.

It also sound like you are trying to add a mailbox from the DC. In order to see the mail properties, you need to run the Exchange Setup on each DC and choose to install the Exchange Management Tools. You must ALSO install the Exchange SP2 Service pack on the DCs after installing the Tools.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

I will do all of those things right now.

Thank you for the helpful post.

I followed the above instructions and it works beautifully.

Thank you markdmac.

Big thing to remember going forward is that whenever you upgrade the Exchange SP you need to do it on the DCs that have Exchange Tools also. Funny things happen when the service pack levels are not in sync.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
