I have several clients on the network that get the "can't contact server" error message when opening Outlook 2000. If I boot the client in safe mode with network, all is well, email can be sent and received. I have exchange 2000 standard with sp3. Seems sort of virus like but I can't find anything.
I tried reinstalling Outlook and updating with latest service packs, by the way the clients are WinXP and Win2K with all the service packs and anti-virus up to date.
A user on a bad client machine can log on a good client machine and check email without a hitch, also a user on a bad client can check email with OWA without a problem.
Anyone seen this behavior before or have any ideas I would be glad to hear them. The only way I have been able to fix a bad client machine is a complete reinstall of os and all apps.
