I have no problem connecting with an external US Robotics modem, however when I try and use any of 3 internal 56K modems the connections always fails.
Is there a setting on high speed modems or within SPM that allows for connections at 1200/2400 baud?
Thanks.

What is happening or what messaging are you getting?

I hear the modem at the distant end, I hear my modem tone but the 2 never connect and eventually SPM says carrier not detected.

Are you splitting the line with a 2500 series phone for the transfer or are you putting the transfer in the dialing string?

I call the site and have the customer transfer me into *10.
Should I have them blind transfer without me on the line? I would like to set up a DID for future use. Would I renumber the port to a DID to accomlish this?

I have also experienced this problem with internal modems, keep the external.

try using lucent internal 56k modems...they work good

Hi ciccotelli,

There have been previous posts on this forum about setting up Remote Access with a DID number, but I don't have any of the threads available. You can scan the pages for them.

You need to renumber the RA with the DID you select and assign a barrier code for access to the switch inorder to use the feature. I use it all the time and also works good for trunk testing remotely. For SPM access your modem dial string would be something like this: ATDTxxx-xxxx,,,,,barrier code*10. Five commas usually work for two rings of the RA, if your comma = 2 seconds which is default. If not, add more commas if you need more delay.

This is also covered in the manuals which can be downloaded from AVAYA's site and some of it in the SPM manual.

Hope this helps!

....JIM....
