VPN was working from home (XP pro) to Windows 2003 Server server at working (Routing and remote access). Both machines are behind Actiontec GT701 router. Work router has TCP 1723 and GRE 47 forwarded to Win 2003 server local IP.

After accessing server through Remote Desktop, I ran Windows update which required a restart. I did it remotely, but then I can't connect anymore. I get an Error 800 - unable to establish VPN connection. I called work and the server is on.

I placed a similar post on Windows 2003 Server forum.

Any ideas what is wrong? I am remotely restarting the computer incorrectly?

Thanks.

Maybe the RRAS service on the server wasnt set to Automatic when you rebooted it?

I just checked. It was set to automatic. I tried stopping on restarting, but it still does not work.

My other VPN to another worksite works just fine so I am baffled.

Thanks.
