I can't connect to network shares via FQDN I get the error message

"You were not connected because a duplicate name exists on teh network. GO to System in Contorl Panel to change the computer name and try again"

I've tried this on a couple of machines that I know have unique names.

The network shares I'm trying to access are on a different subnet to the one I'm on, but I can ping and connect via IP address

Do you have a DNS issue? Or, do you have Wins running? Could be a possibility that there happens to be 2 machines with the same name, but different IP. Do you auto-update DNS entries?

Were these machines built from images? Either the servers or workstations.

No DNS issues that I'm aware of, and no records in WINS of either server.

For the machines that I'm trying to connect to the DNS entries where put in manually
