I have a BCM 50 with an IP Address which I can reach through my Web Browser. I get to the Welcome page (where you can download the software like Element Manager). Unfortunatly the IT People from the company gave me an HTTPS Address which the element manager does not seem to like. All my other customers either have VPNS or a public IP. Does anyone know if I can setup Element manager to connect using the HTTPS instead of the default HTTP? I tried adding a New Network Element and putting in I Get the following ERROR:: A network element with IP address already exists in this folder. But it accually does not exsit, because I am trying to create it. Any Ideas?

Element manager does not connect using htt anything.

To program with Element Manager you enter only the IP address of the BCM that IT supplied you with:
00.000.000.0
Not
If connecting via modem enter the default 10.10.11.1.
See FAQ's for this in the BCM forum (so you know for furture):

I know how to put the IP address in but it doesn't work that way. I get the following error:: Detector 'BCMDetector' cannot determine the device type for 00.000.000.000.

This has to have something to do with HTTPS. Thanks for trying. No modem is hooked up.

Well I am confused then.
You stated you are putting in and get
ERROR:: A network element with IP address already exists in this folder.

Today you know how to put an IP in but now you get:
I get the following error:: Detector 'BCMDetector' cannot determine the device type

Procedure is here in my link I gave you above:
Open Element Manager

In the Navigation panel on the left side right click Network Elements and click New Folder and Label it Customers, now right click Customers and select New Network Element then BCM.
Put in the IP address of the BCM and its user name and password (dialup Networking and Element use same user name and password).
Click Connect on the top Task bar.

BTW the modem is built into the BCM50
See my FAQ's, same link.

I got it fixed. The IT department for the customer was blocking the port that Element Manager uses to connect. Thanks for the help.
