Hi all,

I am having trouble setting up my Barricade router, and saw your site while I was looking for answers, good stuff!!! It is very helpful. I have one question though, I connected all the cables, and everything looks right, however, when I put the IP address in my web browser, it won’t connect, it stays offline. I know my DSL modem works, because I can connect w/out the Barricade, but when I put the Barricade in the mix, nothing connects. I’m sure I’m overlooking something simple, but do you have any advice?

Many thanks...

Matt

do you have your browser setup for a Lan access? Jeter@LasVegas.com

yes, i turned the proxy settings off. i can connect to any website except 192.168.123.x, which i need to get to to clone the mac address to the router...what i dont understand is, if my router is not configured, how can i get to that site i need to get to to configure it? i know, i'm clueless...

What OS are you running? Try a WINIPCFG or IPCONFIG and check your gateway. That should be the IP of your router, you may be trying to use the wrong IP for the web-based config. Matt Wray

I think I need some clarification on what you are trying to do here.

First, are you just trying to connect to the Barricade to access the config screen? If so what IP address is the Barricade set to by default (you may have to check your owners manual)?

Second, Once you know what IP address you are suppose to get to, is your PC configured to be on the same subnet as the Barricade? I.E. if router is 192.168.1.1/24 then your PC must be 192.168.1.x/24 where x is a number between 2 and 254. To get to the Barricade the default gateway is irrelevant but you should configure it to the IP address of the Barricade because you will need to do that to browse the Internet.

I don't know if you are in fact trying to connect to the Internet at this time, but you need to get to the router first. Also if Internet Explorer doesn't work then try Netscape or vice versa.

He is already on the internet as stated above. So his gateway is his router. Matt Wray
