I have a Dell GX1 runnig NT4 with SP4. I tried to copy floppy contents to another diskette. When original flopp is removed I can still see all the files on the floppy even though there is nothing in the drive. refresh doesn't work and if you try to delete you receive the message drive write protected. remove write protection from drive and try again. Any words of wisdom?

Assuming this isn't something that just happened, look for a jumper on the drive itself. I don't remember the exact term but it is something like "disk change notification". The pins should be shorted.
Jeff
masterracker@hotmail.com

Of all the things I've lost in life, I miss my mind the most ...

Assuming that this isn't something that just happened, check for bent pins on the connectors.

I think MasterRacker and IAmCanadian are correct. It sounds like a Phantom Directory which is the result of an error on pin 34. Try replacing your floppy cable
