The LABEL command should enable me to change or delete the volume label on a floppy disk. It works fine on my 486 running Windows 95, but when I try to do this on my Pentium III running Win98 ME it comes back with "Error deleting volume label"
Is there a setting I need to change?
Note: If the label is already blank, I can insert one, but once labelled I cannot change it.
I tried copying label.exe from my Win95 machine, but it comes back with "Incorrect DOS version".
Help please!

What you need to do is open Explorer or My Computer, right click on the a: drive (with the floppy in it)...then you can set the label. I know it works 'cause I just did it. Hope this helps you...

Guidos - I did exactly what you said, using Explorer, but there is no option in the drop-down menu to label the floppy, well, not in my system anyway. I tried my son's computer (Win98) and it works fine.
There must be some setting that's not right.

Did you try to use my computer, right click on the a drive, then properties. There should be a space with "Label" and a blank area or the label of the floppy. No drop down menu.
