I have a user with a 5220d on an SX-200 ICP running 4.0.3.12. The phone physically failed and needs to be replaced, something I've done many times. I don't normally bother with a PIN, I just change the phone MAC address in the Desktop Device Assignments form and give the user the new phone. However, when I try to do this with this extension, I get: "attempting update/delete of a device that is currently in use". I know the device isn't in use; it's in the trash. I'm sure I'm missing something small.

Apologies if this is a dupe...I thought I posted it already but can't find it in the forum.

Thanks,
Bryan

Do you change the MAC address in form 9 then save or do you first clear the old MAC address, save, then enter the new MAC address?

What makes you think that you have time to fix it?

I've tried both ways, with the same result. Even trying to change the PIN gives me the same error.

I would try a reboot on the system and then proceed with changing the phone.

More than likely the issue is that the message key is flashing.

Clear the mailbox and try again.

If not that, use the replacement PIN

If you can't do either, reboot.

Yeah, I was thinking that was what I was going to have to do. Thankfully the weekend is here and I can do it without disrupting too much business.

Just to follow up, clearing the mailbox and the message indicator light did not resolve the error, but restarting the system did. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Good you got to the problem resovled. I am curious tho, did you try to delete the set and re-create it? In theory that should dump it but not sure.

Also did the set obtain ip via DHCP or was it a static IP?

Thanks!

Jim

I didn't try to delete the set and re-create it. I'm assuming that wouldn't have worked (though we know how that goes) since the error indicated both update and delete of the set would fail with it in use.

All of the sets are served via DHCP.
