Can't Browse Token Ring Network from Ethernet PC!! 1

I have a problem browsing other pc's or printers from PC's connected to Token Ring Network via Ethernet.

The network started off as token ring and we have added a couple of ethernet hubs. Our servers are NT4 with 98/2000 clients. Both clients have the same problem.

We have one server set up as the master browser and 2 servers setup as backup browsers.

It IS possible to search for pc's using the "find computer" or install a network printer if the address is known.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My questions:
do you have TCP/IP protocol on both networks?
if you run `ping' by IP works?
al computers ar in the same subnet?

show is an IP/netmask from TokeRing area, and one from Ethernet area.

No - the ethernet is routed to the token ring - is this a problem?

Errata:
`show is an IP/netmask from TokeRing area, and one from Ethernet area.'
replace with:
`show US an IP/netmask from TokeRing area, and one from Ethernet area.'

sorry, my fault.

the idea is that you have to use a WINS server.

the name resolution protocol in MS networks works in 2 ways:
- broadcast - is OK if al computers are in the same subnet
- WINS - if you have 2 or more subnets.

so, you need an WINS server (that means a WinNT/2000 Server, or a samba to linux).
WINS is a service on WinNTServer and Win2000Server.

Also, you have to tell to all workstations about WINS Server
(Network->Properties->TCP/IP->Advanced->WINS)

We've setup a linux box as the wins server on the ethernet subnet and now everything working fine.
