Hi..I'm using IE 6.0.2800.1106 SP1 and all of a sudden I get 'Page cannot be displayed" whenever I try to enter a secure site.

Any idea?

I changed all web settings to default. Even removed all programs in Windows Components and re-added them.

My ole32.dll is version 5.1.2600.1106 and comcat.dll is 5.0.2600.1.

Please help!

The weird thing is that when I use Netscape, browsing on secure sites are fine!!

On Tools, Internet Options, Privacy....lower the slider. Secure sites need to exchange cookies and sometimes this prevents such.... (The default is Medium...too high often.)

I even tried setting the level to LOW but that didn't work.
How do I get to thread608/448145?

Sorry...I miskeyed the thread link....but I see you found it.
Try this...in Internet Explorer, go to Help, About Internet Explorer. What does your Cipher Strength read? If less than the optimum amount, you should see a link beside it allowing you to upgrade.

It says 128-bit for Cipher Strength. I checked out that link you had sent and followed:

-Click Internet Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Advanced tab.
-Under Security, click to select the Use SSL2.0 check box and the Use SSL3.0 check box (if they are not already selected).
-Click OK.

But these options were already checked..along with TLS 1.0.

Still isn't working..

Have you tried (I know this is a stretch) reinstalling or repairing your IE??

Actually I tried reinstalling but a prompt comes up saying I already have a newer version installed..then aborts.

Although, I dont know how's it's possible to have a newer version of 6.0 SP1.

btw..how do I repair (I'm using XP)? That's something I'd like to try.

FOUND A SOLUTION!!! I got it a while ago but forgot to share til now. Here it is..

go to START -> RUN -> type
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wintrust.dll

presto!! now tell all those that need it, and i know it's not just me. no one should go through the hell i did. thanks for everyone's tip anyway.
