cant boot from cd on p7026

Have a failed disk in rootvg so can't boot as normal. Get 0826 LED when booting from mksysb tape or bootable CD...

As i can't boot at all, can't change bootlist....

Any ideas?

I looked it up in the Diag Book...

If 7026/
H70: I/O board problem
H10: System Board problem
H50: I/O Board problem

Thanks for response, not sure though that the board is the problem as boot proc. reaches 0555 (failed disk), if left to run...

Do you think taking the battery out will reset the bootlist so it can then rec. cd or rmt?

Is the mksysb from the Same Machine ?
But from Diagnostic CD and make a Diagnostic on the Disk.
But from CD - Maintenance Functions - Import the rootvg
When the mksysb is not from the Same Machine:
But from CD, Maintenance Task, Install from a System Backup
The Machine will Install the Mksysb and takes the Device Filesets from the CD.

I don't think you need to add the CD to the bootlist...rmt0 CDROM should just start, no?

In checking my bootlist, I only have hdisk0 (rootvg). THe CD or tape drive would have been accessed before this...

I'm not sure... I'd go with what AIX5L is saying...

Did you try hitting (and holding) the "5" or "F5" key just after the caps lock light flashes on boot?
