Hello friends,

This is Access 2000. I attempt to add a Yes/No field named "Selected" to an existing table in a replicated database. Required is "NO", Indexed is "Yes, duplicates OK). I only plan to manage the field in VBA, operator will not need to input a yes/no at new record entry.

The problem: after adding the field, saving design changes, the field does not show in design view. If I double click the tablename, the column does not show in datasheet view. If I open a new query and add this table, the field name is not shown. BUT: if I drag the * to the QBE pane and execute the query, the column shows in the results. Has anyone seen this? Is there something strange about the name "Selected"? I have tried a data definition query with alter table / drop column and then retrying with no success so far. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks, xbigblue

There is a Selected property that's used to to determine if an item in a list box is selected.

I added a field named Selected to an Access97 db and had no problems. It's not a keyword but it is a property as Cosmo pointed out and MAY cause a problem. I would try running a compact and repair on your db, then adding the field again.

I just ran across a similar problem. My MESSAGE field became hidden when the table was replicable, but visible when I set the property to not replicable. I solved this by running a make table query, which brought in the MESSAGE data under the name Expr1, and renamed the field. So far, it seems to work.
