I get the following error when trying to add my Samba domain users group to Win2k local users group. The following error occurred while attempting to save properties for group Users on computer XXXXXX. A member could not be added to or removed from the local group because the member does not exist...

What version of samba? Also, are you logged in as the domain user or the local administrator? Try logging in as the local administrator, and add your domain account then.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

We are currently running version 2.0 and are in the process of upgrading to 3.0. I have logged in as the local admin and tried to add the domain users group but with no success.....

Try to add a single domain user account, not the domain users group, tell me if this works.

Hi,

I had this similar problem, in the first place check for the computer name in win2k. In case if you have alphanumeric as computer name, I dought it will not work. Try with a flat name eg: server as the computer name restart the system.

Try to connect to the samba share and give a try ....

Please revert back
Thanks
