Have a new BCM 4.0. Could download Element Manager but could not connect to BCM. Could connect with older version thought. Loaded latest SU_07. Still could not access BCM. Found another patch but now cannot download any patches. Also cannot lauch Call Pilot from Applications, but can get to it thru Http. Seems like SU_07 is my problem but is not removable. Anyone run into this?

You will probably need level 2 Nortel support to get you back in the box. After that Nortel has a patch to fix this.

Software Update Name: BCM.R400.144-OPENWBEM

To avoid this kind of problem, I guess the BCMR400.144OPENWBEM should be loaded first before SYSTEM.007 patch until NORTEL releases a newer system patch.
. Can't access system with Element Manager
Unable to login to Element Manager. Logins get stuck at "resolving cartridge identifier"
Webpage/Ping /SSH access works.
Q01751044

You could also add BCMR400.160 system management patch.
RELEASE: BCM 4.0
CR: Q01592770-01
SYMPTOMS: When trying to access a BCM 4.0 via Element Manager you are not able to connect. You will receive
"unable to determine device type for IP x.x.x.x"
WORKAROUND: See Recommendations.
STATUS:
1. The issue has been identified as a RPM Corruption and systems evidencing RPM corruption will need to have NETS
intervention to recover the RPM database for the reported site.
2. Patch BCM.R400.160-SoftwareManagement has been developed and is available to PREVENT this issue.

Thanks for the help. Yes, I should have loaded 144 first . I opened a case with Nortel and they have sent it to Level 2. Wll let you know.

Level 2 called and apparently you should not have 2 instances of EM on your PC, even though Nortel say it will work. Also the EM on the BCM I was trying to download required the patch, which I could not loadf with my version of EM. They are going to do some testing with SU_07 and EM to see if there is a connection.

What I got back from Nortel was that there s a problem with EM Cartridge BCM200.2.67-0 working with SU_07. Hope this helps somebody else.
