I installed a new 120 GB WD HDD; installed Windows XP Professional with NTFS partitioning. My previous HDD is a WD 80 GB HDD with FAT32 partitioning; I made that drive the SLAVE. Set the jumper on the 120gb to MASTER, and the jumper on the 80 gb to SLAVE. When I boot up, BIOS sees the SLAVE, and if I go into Disk Management, I can see the SLAVE, though it does not have a drive letter and I can't see "Properties". It says 74.50 GB FAT32 Healthy (Active). HOWEVER, I can not access this drive in My Computer or Windows Explorer? If I remove the 120 GB drive, and reset the jumper on the SLAVE, i can boot up on the SLAVE, so the drive is OK. Any ideas - I'm sure I'm missing something simple here.

You simply need to reboot with a 98 boot disk. The slave drive should not be active. Only the master. So you need a 98 boot disk with fdisk on it.
Boot with that. type fdisk.
Press Y twice
It will report both partitions incorrectly b/c it can't report anything over 64GB properly. But the partitions are fine. Set the one with XP on it as the active partition. Exit Fdisk back to the prompt
Reboot, again to the boot disk
type fdisk /mbr
That will rewrite your master boot record and reassign the drive letters. C will be your primary active partition. D will be your slave.
Reboot into XP, and it should show up.

what multarnc said it correct...
do that or else connect your slave as master on your secondary IDE and make any CD-rom kinda things as slave...
it should rectify that problem.
not issues of using fdisk... and next tiem you have a system crash .. then think of sloving that problem
