Can't access my LAN Workgroup??

Since I installed my Dlink DSL-504 router, I cannot browse my "local" network.

On both a Win2k and a Windows XP Pro machine I'm told that the Workgroup cannot be accessed and to check with my administrator (my log on) to see if I have permission to browse the Workgroup!

None of this happened before I introduced the Router!

I can ping any PC on the LAN from any PC. IP addresses are issued by the DHCP (and can be seen in the admin web page of the router) on the router and am configured for NAT.

I have netbios over TCP/IP set to "on" on all clients.

Web browsing is no problem from any client PC on the LAN.

Anyone any ideas??

Thanks in advance.

Gordon

How did you share the DSL connection before introducing the router? Could there be firewalls in place on these machines?

sounds like a netbeui issue. I havent worked with dlink routers before, but you should see if there is anything in the setup dealing with this protocol. since you can ping the machines, the network(tcp) layer is working fine. netbeui (workgroups) is layer 2...this is where i would look on the computer and on the router.

Thanks for the response.

Got it sorted .... smah had it sussed. I still had the XP clients configured with the built in firewall switched on at full strength.

I've set the firewalls to off on the local LAN and used the router to filter out unwanted ports and all now works well.

Thanks again!!
