Hello,

I have a Nortel BES50 - Business Ethernet Switch. To access and configure, I normally setup my laptop with:
IP 192.168.1.1
SN 255.255.255.0
GW 192.168.1.128

Then patch in to either port 1 or 12, and pull up the GUI by directing my browser to 192.168.1.128.

For whatever reason, I can not ping 192.168.1.128, let alone bring up the GUI. On the Properties for my LAN port, I never do see any "receive" packets, so it's almost like the default IP information has changed in the switch. Does anyone have any suggestions, or know how to reset this box back to DEFAULT?

I've verified my laptop and patch cable by plugging into another network and accessing the internet, etc...

Thanks in advance, and Merry Christmas!

Typically devices will send out an ARP for their IP address at initialization to see if anyone replies (so they know there is a conflict.) You might try starting a wireshark packet capture on a laptop, then plugging it in and powering the BES50 on - if it works the switch's IP should be in the ARP packet.

Usually the default ip will be 192.168.1.132 for BES switches if 132 dosnt work then it ll be 128.If both dosnt work then use a pin and there ll be a reset button on the right side of the switch.
