Hi All.

I'm having an issue where I can't access a bcm50e with the element manager.

I have configured the lan port with a 10.10.x.x address, and statically configured my ethernet port with a 10.10.x.x address in the same subnet.

I can ping to my hearts content; however when I go to access the bcm50 with the element manager, I get the message

Exception occurred when trying to connect
Detector 'BCMDetector' cannot determine the device type for 10.10.x.x

I CAN access the bcm via the oam port (10.10.11.1) with the passwords nnadmin / Pls....

Is there a different password for the lan port?

Any ideas?

Regards

What version of Element Manager are you using?. Have you tried browsing to the system via Microsoft Internet Explorer?. If so, have you downloaded the EM tool and tried using that version?.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Hang on a second. Have you been able to access the BCM 50 OK via the OAM port using the Element Manager tool?. It could be that your LAN port is faulty. I've got a BCM 50 where the OAM port is faulty.

Hi everyone.

Thanks for all the responses.

In no particular order:
1) I am using the Element Manger 62.0.3
2) I am able to connect to the unit using the OAM port, and ip address 10.10.11.2 on my computer.
3) I can ping the bcm50e with my laptop. When I have configured myself in the 10.10.x.x range, I can run a continuous ping and not lose any packets save the first one.
4) No I haven't downloaded the EM off of the box. I will, however, give that a try.
5) I have rebooted a number of times, especially after making changes, to confirm that my changes have "taken".

Regards

unplug the LAN connection to the customers network. Configure your laptop with the next IP address in line 10.10.x.x+1 and try to access it then. Customer could be routing or like mentioned in an earlier post they could have a duplicate IP address conflict.

Hi All.

DBrewsky: I have connected my computer directly to LAN port 1 and assigned it an IP address as you suggested. I can ping to my hearts content, however I cannot access the unit via Element Manager.

As was suggested earlier in this post, I downloaded and installed the Element Manager from the unit itself, which is an older version than I was running, and the same issue applies ... that is I cannot access the unit via Element Manager.

The only thing that I have not tried in this post is to change the IP range to something totally different to see if I can access it at that time. I will try it and advise.

Thanks for all of the help so far everyone. It is appreciated.

Regards
