Canon BJC-2100 Printer Ink issues

I have a Canon BJC-2100 Printer which is refusing to print black text it will print in other colors but refuses to print in black. Would anyone on this forum have any suggestions as to how I could fix this problem

The standard fix would to be get a new black ink cartridge but that might not help if the print head is blocked.

After a period of time the head gets dry and blocked. I would try to have that replaced.

On earlier versions the heads were built into the cartridge, so I would clean the connections with a cotton swap and some alcohol.
