Quick background -
I recently changed the SMSService Account's name since the old one kept locking up (long story)
The environment is SMS2.0 SP2 on a Windows 2000 SP1 server. Only SMS server with no clients at this time.(am prepping a pilot program)
The problem -
In the component status the SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER is listed as stopped despite being on autostart. From SMS Service Manager I cannot query the service to try to start it manually. This seems to set the SMS_HEIRARCHY_MANAGER to warning with the following error message:
***
SMS Hierarchy Manager cannot reinstall the SMS Site Component Manager under the new service account and password. The operating system reported error 1060: The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
Possible cause: The service account and password are not valid.
Solution: Specify a valid service account and password using the SMS Administrator console.
Possible cause: The account does not have Administrator permissions and "Log on as a service" rights.
Solution: Grant the appropriate permissions and rights using the Windows NT User Manager.
***
I checked be log on as service and that is OK.
How do I use the SMS Admin console to specify a valid svc acct and passowrd? I cant find where to do this.
Thanks...
