Hi!
When I start an FTP session to a target Solaris system, it disconnects me right away, as if rejecting FTP user. I can log in as root or as assigned user. It does not make any difference.

I am surr there is some file/s which is monitored for user's FTP access rights. I need help to resolve this issue.

In solaris 8 root access to FTP is disabled by default. Go to /etc/ftpusers and comment out (Use #) the entry root.

Also look at /etc/inetd.conf and verify the FTP entry string is not commented out.

Along with /etc/inetd.conf (as suggested by bfitzmai), check the /etc/services file. I think there are 2 entries for ftp. Make sure they aren't commented out.
