I don't know much about the aloha system, so please help me as best you can.
I was to re-setup the computer after it had been taken out to be serviced for updates. After connecting what seemed to be everything, I couldn't get the Ctlsvr to start, despite being able to view all workstations over the network, and the Edc worked without problems.
I looked through the forums for info, and tried registering all services. However, I registered the services without first unregistering them and restarting.
I was told by the technical person that I had forgotten to hook up the 'dongle', almost immediately after I'd made this mistake of registering the services. After connecting the dongle properly that was clearly the original problem as the Ctlsvr worked fine and we were able to use the terminals for sales. However, I tried the Edc again and could no longer get it to work, with the error "Cannot find Edc DCOM server, make sure it is properly licensed and registered".
I tried to start the EdcSvr service through Services and Devices, however I cannot see EdcSvr in the services dialog (I can however see CtlSvr, running-automatic-etc), and if I try to install it (under 'object'), it says 'service is already installed'. EdcSvr.exe is listed in the Aloha/bin folder, however the service cannot be started. When I try to register the service(edcsvr.exe /service in the cmd, or using the register_iber file), I tried both registering using a local account, and giving a specific username and password, after which I got the error "cannot start service" I also tried unregistering, restarting, and re-registering all services, which did not help, as well as unregistering just the edcsvr and the associated dll's, restarting, and re-registering them.
Can anyone tell me what I did to the EdcSvr.exe file? It is still in the aloha/bin folder, it just isn't starting. Is this fixable? What resources do I need to fix this? Why is this happening exactly?
