Thanks for any help you may leave.

I am using IIS6 on a windows 2003 server located in a dmz. I am using a watchgaurd X1000 firewall.
I have a single IP for the website and subdomains that are setup on IIS6.
The website and subdomains can be viewed from any machine outside of our LAN perfectly but not on the LAN.
On the LAN I can only access the main website by entering the IP 10.0.0.1 and not any subdomains, as soon as I type in any name it resolves nothing at all. I can ping everything though by name and ip????

Ideally I want to be able to view the website and subdomains by just typing in the names.

PLEASE HELP ME as it is driving me nuts....

It looks like DNS issue. Have you configured your forward and reverse lookup zones for those child domains?
You can ping anyhting by name or by IP if you modify host file. For web access, I think you need to look at DNS in your domain.

And also, try using nslookup rather than ping. This will tell you whether you have DNS issue or not. That is all I can tell based on what you wrote.

Managed to sort this out and eventually it was a DNS issue. No forward zones were in place for the subdomains. Cheers for all your help.
