Using someone else's computer, i used Ulead's Video Basic software to capture the video from a DV camera, then saved the avi files to a CD.
I brought the CD to my machine, and copied them to my HD. When viewing the avi in Windows Media Player, the files view perfectly at original quality. However, I cannot import any of these files into any of my video editing software. Premiere is the only one that imports the file, but the video is screwed up. It will play the audio fine, but the whole video contains only the last frame showing for the entire duration.
When using Ulead Media Studio, I get a "file contains no video data" error, and Pinnacle simply says "cannot open file".
Has anyone else experienced this problem? and if so, how did you resolve it. the only solution i have found is to use Windows Media Encoder to convert it to a wmv, then use it from there, but there is a quality loss that I can't have.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
TIA
Fred
