Hope this is the right place to ask for help!
I have a windows 2003 server running active directory, terminal services, dhcp server, and dns server.
The other day I enabled Routing and Remote Access on the server while experimenting with a VPN and immediately lost the ability for any computer on my LAN to connect to it. I had to connect via a vpn and remote desktop just to disable the RRAS.
When I disabled RRAS, I was able to access again via Remote Desktop, however none of my winXP pro machines on the LAN could login using active directory.
I finally made a "patch" of sorts by changing the DNS servers on the router to match the LAN ip of the win2003 server. The server does DNS resolution and things have been mostly working.
The server is named "jtpserver1". My problem is that I used to be able to "view entire network" under Network Places and then go to Microsoft Terminal Services and my server would be under there as "jtpserver1". Its not showing up anymore.
Also, if I wanted to map a network drive, I could just browse and go through the terminal service network, browse through "jtpserver1" and to the shared folder I wanted to map. Since "jtpserver1" doesn't show anymore under Terminal Services, I can't do this. I can still access the server by doing "\jtpserver1" and choose the folder I want to map, but I can tell there's something still wrong with my server.
When I check the Terminal Services configuration, its still showing jtpserver1. I'm afraid to try and disconnect/reconnect the server because I don't want to lose remote desktop access to the server(its in a different office.)
Can someone give me some tips on how to get my server back to the way it was before I enabled RRAS?
Thanks!!!!!!
