Ok.... Here is the deal.... I have a WIN2K server and running a DNS server and have my DHCP setup. All of my computers on my network can hit the Domain Controller, but I cannot brows my network. I keep getting an error message that says:

\\xxxxxx\c$
Login Failure:the target account name is incorrect.

If I use UNC using an IP it tells me it is not accessible. You do not have permission to use this network resource. The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG ????

Have you turned on "file and printer sharing" on your server?

Make sure that you have the NetBEUI protocol loaded on each of the units and, if necessary, populate your LMHOSTS file.

Good Luck!

Neozero,
I have the same issue on my W2k server (login failed : the target account name is incorrect). Did you ever find an answer? I have been running this server for 2 1/2 years without problem. As of Monday 11/17 random machines cannot browse. I have been able to get around this by disjoining/rejoining the domain, but i dont want to do that for 200 workstations. Is there a default expiration date in active directory? Any suggestions welcomed.

This can occur if two computers have the same computer name. One computer may be located in the child domain; the other computer is located in the parent domain. To resolve this issue, rename the computer's name, or delete the machine account on the parent domain.
