Cannot see local area connection icon

For some reason, i can no longer see the local area connection Icon. I can still access the internet and local lan, but I cannot see the icon. I tried the MS fix (Some Network and Dial-Up Connections Icons May Be Missing (Q254631), but it did not work. I also tried to reload the service pack, but that did not work either. I need to get this icon back. Anyone see this before and know the fix??

what kind of o/s do you have?
if you install w2k pro with sp3. sp3 have alot of problem. then try uninstall sp3.
