Hi, I would be really greatful if someone could help me because I am getting hassled by my colleagues!
We are running Arcserve 6.61 advanced edition on an NT4 Server (SP5).
We have a separate Exchange 5.5 Server which has the Exchange Agent installed.
When I configure backup jobs through Arcserve Manager I can see the Exchange bricks and select them to be backed up.
When I come to restore (By Tree), there is a small grey box next to 'Microsoft Exchange Server - Brick Level' which doesnt allow me to expand the brick level structure.
I have recently applied service pack 2A for Arcserve but this has not resolved the problem.
Thanks.

HI,

Did you check under Restore By Session??

Try merging the tape back into the database.

hope this helps

cheers

Under Restore by Session, I can only select the entire Brick Level backup session.
Preferably I would like to use Restore by tree so I can select individual mailboxes and public folders to restore.
I have noticed in the Log that at the beginning of a backup job I get the following error:

E4102 Unable to open database. (DATABASE=ASTPSDAT, EC=-46)

Would a reinstallation of Arcserve cure the problem?

Thanx

Well.....that the key to the problem....

its your ARcserve DB thats causeing the problem...

initialize your database..

you can do this from the ARcserve server Admin..
or look it up in the ARCserve help

Speshalyst,

Your advice has resolved this problem! Thanks very much.
However, now when I go to try and restore a folder to the Exchange server I get the E3201 Unable to connect to network drive.
I have done all the necessary checks.

HI,

When you submit the restore job verify if you are using the domainname\username format

Open a command prompt on the ARCServe server and check if you can map the ADMIN$ share on the Exchange server using
NET USE

Syntax : NET USE \\servername\ADMIN$ /USER:domain\username

hope this helps

cheers

Hi,

I resolved this now thanks.

Hi Harkanwal

I have almost the same problem: (ArcServe2000 SP3 & Exchange 2000).

Everytime when I try to make a restore by tree (I also tried by session) I get this error: "E3150 Unable to connect to network drive. (DRIVE=sr01\ADMIN$, EC=LOGON FAILURE)"

I can make a "net use" to this share from any computer with the arcserve user.

maybee I make the same thing false as you... or somebody else can help me. I tried every possibility a know and still don't get on.

Thanks a lot for your help!!!
