Hello,

We're currently involved in a cabling project and are facing problems running PoE. Cat6A S/FTP cables are furnished in a PoE project in an old building. The switch model is Cisco C9300-24U-E V02 and access point is Cisco C2960X-24PD-L V02. The access point works perfect at fast ethernet, but can only Transmit at Gigabit ( cannot Receive). When we replace the cable with Cat6A UTP type, Gigabit runs perfect.

Might the problem rise because of grounding ? The building is quite old and there might be voltage difference on far and near ends. Might there be another reaosn? I need help please.

Regards,

Both of those Cisco models are switches - did you mean to refer to a wireless access point? Do the terminated S/FTP cable links pass TIA-568 standards testing? How is the cable terminated at each end (i.e. on a jack and then patch cord connected to the equipment, or directly to a plug)?

What S/FTP cable is being used? Is it a brand name?
