We have a two-computer WinMe LAN. Each one has its own printer (Epson Stylus Color 480). The problem is from Computer #1 it's possible to print to any printer, local or remote, but #2 can't print and doesn't get any error message. Any ideas?
Make sure printer sharing is enabled on both comps. compare the port settings on each in the Print driver properties, on the detail tab. For the local printer it should be LPT1 or USB and for the other printer it should be \\other comp\name of printer.
Thanks Jomama!
I've checked what you sugested. The weird thing is that the computer that dosen't print, can't do it even on local port (lpt1). At the same time, the other computer is able to print over the network to the same printer and port. I've been working with this kind of solutions form more than 10 years and never find something like that.
re: the comp that wont print to its own LPT1. Delete the printer. Reboot. Reinstall the driver. You should get it to print locally before attempting a mapped connection.
Jomama46 Is right. Also Windows ME is known as Microsoft's problem child. If upgrading is an option at all, I highly recomend it! I would even take Windows 98 before ME. Good luck.
