Hi there. I'm new to this forum, and I searched through some of the threads for the same problem, but nothing has helped me out so far. I'm using Illustrator 10 on PC, and I just got a new printer for my birthday. It is a Dell Model A920. When I go to print from illustrator, it gives me the error message "CANNOT PRINT THE ILLUSTRATION" and then shoots out a blank piece of paper at me! I've tried to print everything from simple text to jpgs and nothing works. HELP!

Can you print from other programs to rule out the possibility the printer is at fault? Or the connection?

Yes, I can print from other programs. I saved the files as an PDF and printed it from Acrobat, and it came out fine. Still, this wouldn't be feasible with everything I need to print.

I don't have V10 (but I have V9 so it should be similar), and when I click on File>Print Properties, I get to firstly choose my printer and then there is button marked 'Properties' (of the chosen printer). At this point I can make a number of selections on things like paper size and orientation, number of pages etc etc and also get to choose the graphics quality. Does your printer have similar choices and are you sure you have corectly set the paper size and all other relevant variables? Have you also carefully checked all the choices available under the File>Print menu?

I have a very humble Brother laser printer and it can print a native file from Illustrator perfectly (albeit in greyscale only).

I checked all the choices and tried printing under a few different settings, all with the same error message. I don't think my printer is the problem in itself...
