Cannot open url in new window

This just started to happen:
I can cut and paste the URL and it works. If the link is imbedded in a doc or another web page, it may or may not work. Like, if it's the type of link that opens a separate browser, it won't work. If it's the type of link that changes the page in the same browser, it works fine.

Does anyone know what might be causing this ?

Try going to IE...Tools/InternetOptions/Programmes and click RESET WEB SETTINGS ......should work.

Did you try System Restore to see if it corrected this problem?

Try reregistering each of the following from start/run: Press OK after each entry.

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

Links that open in seperate browsers use javascript or vbscript code. If you have tightened your security enough, these API's will not work.

I had the same problem. Do what linney says, but add

regsvr32 MSjava.dll
regsvr32 Browseui.dll

This worked for me.
