Access database on a network
Every user is authorized to use this database

Except me.

When I try to open the database the following message occurs

This file cannot be opend in microsoft access bla bla bla....

When I a make a copy to my local drive it works fine but on a network drive it just wont open.

Any idea?

Best regards

Bob

What operating system are you using?

[flush]

DBAMJA

It is said that God will give you no more than you can handle. I just wish God didn't have so much faith in me.

My guess is that you do not have the same rights on the network as others.

I've got an idea...post the full error message. They're not all the same. There's little chance it's about network rights if you're getting that message, though.

Regarding rights.

Access likes to write data to internal system tables, and also create a LDB file for record locking. Unfortunately, this means that in order for the database to work properly, you need full security access to the database when stored on the network. (This has been a beef of mine for years) So check to make sure you have full access to the database is a good starrt.

Having said that, if you open a database with read only security access, Access till opens the databse, but "complains" very loudly.

So, moving on, besides access rights, what could possible be different betwen running the application on your PC and on the network? A tough one, and if we had a bit more information, such as the specific error message, it would be useful to us in working on your problem.

I have found the solution.

Internet explorer
Tools
Internet options
Security
Local intranet
Web sites

Then you will see three checkboxes.
The first one wasn't checked

Problem solved.

Thanks for all the replys

Best regards,

Bob
