Cannot open attachments in Outlook

A colleague of mine is unable to open any attachents in Outlook. She said that its been going on for a while now. When I looked at it, and click on the attachment, it would just open the program of the attachents format (ex. Excel, Word). After that, nothing else would happen.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem a couple of months ago. I just reinstalled outlook and problem was gone.

When you open an attachment in Outlook, it has to first save it to a temp location on your hard disk.
Try this.....Open the attachment, and when it opens the app with nothing in it...do a search for the file, eg letter.doc and see what comes up...
tell me what you find....if even nothing at all... Jay~

I tried to open two different attachments (an Excel file and a Word file). Oddly enough, I could find the Excel file when I did a search for it. But as for the Word document, it did NOT locate it.
