I am using IIS6 + office 2003. All the documents in intranet by default open as read only. If I click save as, I can save the file to that folder. So, it should not be permission problem, right? Hope you guys can help. Thx.

If the file is read only then word will not allow you to save it, the read only flag needs to be removed before loading the file into Word.

Some applications do allow you to overwrite readonly documents, but word is not one of them

Thx shatch ,
But it is not a read only file. It can be opened & saved in normal windows environment but not in Intranet.

Check the authentication type in IIS, ensure anonymous is disabled, and that integrated is on, so that users are authenticated with their domain accounts.
