I am trying to get 2 computers to read each other. First one has no problem but I get the following error message with the second.

The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error has occurred. Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

I had this problem a few years ago and have done all that was suggested then including altering the IRPStackSize size on both computers but this time no success. Cannot think of anything else to try.

Moveit,

yep, that was three years ago that I had a similar problem, it also was an ASUS board... but I do not have that problem anymore, as that mainboard is a goner...

we could make this really simple, in that you could use a NIC PCI card, and forgo the usage of the onboard NIC...

now you could also attempt to give all a static IP, e.g. give MIDI the following IP and GATEWAY:

IP: 192.168.0.10
SubNet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway; 192.168.0.1

for MaxiXP:

IP: 192.168.0.20
SubNet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1

now another Question or two, I've noticed that you have DNS entries that differ from the Gateway (on my systems all DNS entries are the same as my Gateway; my network has a router (build in modem), which acts as my DNS Server in it's settings it uses different DNS settings, e.g. my ISP's or the ones from OpenDNS), perhaps changing the DNS settings on the MINI/MaxiXP network settings to the Gateway may solve the issue...

how is your network set up, e.g. two PC's hooked to a switch which also is attached to a Router/Modem?

do you normally have DHCP set up or do you have them normally set to a static IP?

trying to get a general view of your network setup...

BadBigBen - Tried the static IP but only got the original error message.

At present I have a Virgin super hub that combines modem and router. Before that I had a separate Virgin modem and my own router and have had my present problem with both sets so it does not seem to be them. All DHCP and any other network setups have been done automatically in the past with no trouble. Switching between the 2 computers is done through a separate USB hub that switches monitor, keyboard, sound and mouse by keys on the keyboard. The USB hub does not go through the super hub.

OK, the KVM switch (USB hub you mentioned) is not part of the equation...

and I do not think that the Virgin (Cisco) hub is causing this either...

hmmm... this is a strange issue, for sure... I wish you had a separate HDD, where you could test a fresh install, to see if it behaved just like the install you have presently...

in the previous posts about the IRQStackSize, on which machine did you apply the fix? on the one with the mapping problem (MINI) or on the one that has the share (MaxiXP)...

from further reading, it should be applied to the PC with the share (MaxiXP), try a value of 20, also make sure that the following programs are not installed at all, as these have been known to change that value back or interfere with the stack increase...

Norton AntiVirus,
Acronis TrueImage, version 10 or 2009 or higher,
Seagate DiscWizard (a rebranded version of Acronis TrueImage),
IBM AntiVirus,
Microsoft's Defender, and
Symantec EndPoint Protection (version 11+),
AVG 2011+.

just to name a few, I am sure there are others that mess with that setting...

BadBigBen - Great news. I had Acronis Version 10 loaded so took it off and I can now read Maxi okay. This was the first time I had seen Acronis mentioned as a possible clash with computers. I wonder how many other people out there do not realize this as it is supposed to be a good program? From what you said I take it even version 11 would clash?

Again thanks for your help on this and other posts over the last few months.

It was mentioned in this thread earlier up in this post that Acronis could be a problem. You must have missed it. Glad you have it solved now. A clean boot should have waved a flag too.

MoveIT,

glad to hear that all is well, and sry to hear that Acronis is(was) the culprit, it usually is a good program for what it does. I can only surmise that it needs to change that value, so that it can backup over the network...

I just love network problems, they can be a doozy to figure out as to the causes...
