Cannot log into domain

I have a brand new laptop and logging in locally is fast. I successfully joined my laptop to the domain. I then log out, then attempt to log into the domain with my account and it hangs. After about 5 minutes I have to turn it off.

Supposedly, there are no scripts for my login, so cannot understand why it takes so long.

If there are no scripts it would work even faster..

is it using wifi for the connectivity?

Is there LAN activity? If you are using roaming profiles you may be copying large files from your server. Do you use a music sharing software that might be saving files to "My Documents\My Music"? That could make the copy quite large.
